CAPACITY BUILDING FOR CBTA’S AND TRAINING IN CROSS BORDER PROCEDURES

DATE: 22ND TO 24TH MAY 2018

LOCATION: GOLI WOMEN VOCATIONAL CENTRE

In pursuit of component 2, and as a critical activity in preparation for smooth implementation of subsequent project activities, MTIC-GLTFP PCU has organized capacity building and training workshops for beneficiary border local councils (Mpondwe, Bunagana and Goli). The trainings will specifically target for Cross Border Traders’ Associations (CBTAs), selected key Project affected persons and council officials. The purpose of the training is to streamline functionality of CBTAs especially in terms of cohesiveness and inclusion, as well as strengthen capacities of border communities and Local Government officials effectively play their roles in respect to the project. The specific objectives of the activity are;

  • Guide and support the CBTAs to finalize and own their operational constitution.
  • Guide and support the finalization of guidelines for management of the Trade Information Desks (TIDs), with clear obligations and mandates for proper running of the CBTAs.
  • Strengthen capacities of CBTAs in various aspects critical for proper governance and effective administration such leadership, group dynamics, strategy formulation, gender balance, inclusiveness, dispute resolution as well as creation of effective collaborative linkages.
  • Clarify on the oversight function of CBTAs including roles and responsibilities, as well as rights and obligations.
