4.5 Understanding Joint Border Committees, Setting TOR and Formation of the JBC

This was facilitated by Mr. Nsamba Michael who took the participants through the roles & Co-ordination of the Joint Border Committee. These included;

1. Co-ordination between Uganda & DRC-Integration synchronization, harmonization of activities and responsibilities in the conduct of cross border trade by the cross border agencies.
2. Promote inter agency communication & coordination among agencies of DRC & Uganda.
3. Act as a platform to address challenges faced by Traders such as corruption, harassment especially by the women traders.
4. Provide advisory services to Joint Border Traders for example legal immigration.
5. Sit regularly to find out challenges and joint solutions.
6. Take on other functions incidental to facilitating smooth operation of Joint Border Trade.
