INTRODUCTION

Bi-Lateral Technical meeting between Uganda and DRC in Goma

The first meeting of the Republic of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo Joint Trade Committee was held in Goma, DRC from 03rd- 05th December 2018 with support from the Great Lakes Trade Facilitation Project (GLTFP).  The meeting was convened to review the progress of implementation of the MOU signed by the two countries and April 2018 and pursuant to the decision of the meeting of the Joint Permanent Commission between DRC and Uganda held in Kampala, Uganda in October, 2018.

The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Millan BONDENGA LOOLA, Advisor to the State Minister, Minister of External Trade of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Eng. Samuel Ssenkungu, Director, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperative of the Republic of Uganda. The meeting was attended by technical experts representing the Ministries responsible for trade, Border Services (Customs, Migration & Immigration, Standards Bureau) of two countries, the GLTFP and COMESA Secretariat, as well as the representatives of cross-border small traders’ associations
