The representative to the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Atwine Emmanuel welcomed all participants to the workshop and emphasized that the Ministry remains committed to implementing Trade at the Border areas, and mentioned that that MTIC was pleased that the STR programme is being implemented and had already launched at Mpondwe and Kasinde in DRC Congo, which would be followed by Bunagana and Goli. He noted that STR programme was aiming at elimination of non-Tariff barriers, Customs Co-operation, formation of Private Business Operation that would assist Cross Border Traders. He also reminded the members about the appointment of the Joint Border Committee members and implored the members to consider the Committee Gender based.
