4.7 Recommendations

  • CBTA Members will receive a copy of the STR Booklet and distribute to their members so they can understand the common list of goods that are exempt to import and export taxes but not other taxes such as VAT, withholding tax.
  • Lifting of the ban by DRC for goods coming in from Uganda especially those on a large scale. DRC Officials responded that the reason for lifting the ban was to promote domestic production. They added that the same ban was not only imposed on Uganda but Rwanda as well. However, they said that with the STR now in place, they would reconsider small scale Traders.
  • CBTA Leadership consulted on availability of customs document and how it will guide the members in facilitation trade. MTIC responded that it will prepare the documents (leaflets) that are actually available at the Ministry and pass them on to the members.
  • CBTA suggested to have their first meeting before 23rd May 2018.
